May 22nd, 2021| Sister Division Event
Our Kiwanis club held a joint event with our sister division, D27S Koi Fish, for our annual Pixie Woods Clean Up. Members were expected to wear face masks while maintaining proper social distancing for our first in-person service event of the term. Volunteers had the first thirty minutes to freshen up with breakfast, provided by the Pixie Woods staff, and familiarize themselves with the amusement park. The Pixie Woods staff would give tasks/jobs to groups of volunteers, which would vary from freshly planting flowers, gardening, raking up the soil, and tidying up the amusement park. Volunteers were allowed to take breaks whenever they chose throughout the four-hour service event, as long as they spent the majority of their time cleaning up. Despite the work being a bit laboring, many volunteers would say the event was enjoyable because it was our first in-person service event of the term. At the end of the event, lunch was provided and members were able to bond together with one another by hanging out at the park, located next to Pixie Woods.
