Love Letters for Literacy is an ongoing service project that looks for volunteers who are willing to create LLL packets to help promote reading amongst low-income children. The contents of a LLL packet include: a cover page, a handwritten note from the volunteer that encourages reading, and a set of 26 alphabet flashcards with a word and picture drawn at the back. These will be donated to a local elementary named Parklane.
Middle College Key Club and Middle College’s Student Government teamed up for their first ever event together. Love Letters for Literacy is an organization that helps teach the alphabet to children. Members created flash cards of each letter in the alphabet and a picture to help the kids memorize each letter. Along with the cards was a personalized letterfrom the member that helped to encourage the children to want to practice and learn to read and write. The packs of cards and letters were dropped off at Bear Creek High School and they will be donated to Parklane Elementary.
